Ans: Caesar said that nothing could be avoided which the god had purposed. He further said that those omens appear to everyone, not only to Caesar.
12. The teacher asked the student if he had prepared his lessons. The student replied politely that he had not. AHSEC 2005
Ans: The teacher said to the student, "Have you prepared your lessons ?" The student said, "Sir, I have not."
13. "Hercules." Said the goddess of Virtue," I offer myself to you, I know you are descended from the gods and that you have given proofs of that by your love of virtue." AHSEC 2006

25. One day Mukesh told me that he would be a motor mechanic and leave Firozabad. I asked if he knew anything about car. AHSEC 2013
Ans: One day Mukesh said to me, "I will be a motor mechanic and leave Firozabad. I said to him. " Do you know anything about car ?"
26. The lady said to salesman, "What is the price of the barbie doll ?" The salesman said to her, "It is a bit expensive. But I can give you at 20 % discount." AHSEC 2014
Ans: The lady asked the salesman what the price of that barbie doll was. The salesman answered/replied to her that that was a bit expensive but he could give her at 20% discount.
27. One day Mohan told me that he would become a doctor and leave Assam. I asked him if he knew anything about medicine. AHSEC 2014
Ans: One day Mohan said to me , "I will become a doctor and leave Assam." I said to him, "Do you know anything about medicine ?"
28. "Where do you go every Sunday ?" I asked the girl. She replied, "I go to the church." AHSEC 2015
Ans: I asked the girl where she goes every Sunday. She answered / replied that she goes to the church.
29. The teacher asked Rumi if she had read the Bible. She replied that she hadn't. AHSEC 2015
Ans: The teacher said to Rumi, "Have you read the Bible ?" She replied, "I haven't."

30. "How long do you have to wait for your train ?" The woman asked me. "About an hour," I replied. AHSEC 2016
Ans: The woman enquired of me how long I had to wait for my train. I replied that I had to wait for about an hour.
31. I asked Ranjan where Neena Lived. Ranjan replied regretfully that he didn't know. AHSEC 2016
Ans: I said to Ranjan, "Where does Neena live ?" He said, "Sorry, I don't know."
32. The speaker said, "I thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for giving me a kind hearing. When I arrived here yesterday I did not believe that I might meet so large a gathering." AHSEC 2018
Ans: The speaker addressing the ladies and gentlemen thanked them, for giving him a kind hearing. He further told that when he had arrived there the previous day he did not believe that he might meet so large a gathering.
33. His mother exclaimed in sorrow that she had not a bit of bread to give him that he had eaten up all the provisions she had in the house the previous day. AHSEC 2018
Ans: His mother said, "Alas, I have not a bit of bread to give you !" You have eaten up all the provision I had in the house yesterday."

9. Gandhi said to Shukla, "I have to be in Calcutta on such and such a date. Come and meet me and take me from there."

10. "You must take the dog out". He said with sour venom. "I shall certainly do nothing of this kind", said the woman.

11. Adity asked Raj if his sister was at home, Raj replied that she was not. She had gone for shopping with their mother.

12. He requested me to sit down for a few minutes. I told him that I would be late for school.
Ans: He said to me, "Please sit down for a few minutes." I said to him, "I shall be late for school.”
13. The doctor asked the patient how she was that morning. The patient replied that she still had the pain.
Ans: The doctor said to the patient, How are you this morning ?"The patient replied. "I still have the pain."
14. "What did you do about ?" I asked the man. "Nothing," he said. "I did absolutely nothing.”
Ans: I asked the man what he had done about. He replied that he had done nothing. He added that he had done absolutely nothing.
15. The teacher asked Namita if she had read The Diary of Anne Frank. Namita replied that she had not.
Ans: The teacher said to Namita, "Have you read the Diary of Anne Frank ?" Namita said, "I have not read.”
16. Anil said to me, "What are you doing here ?" "I am swimming," I replied.
Ans: Anil asked me what I was doing there. I replied that I was swimming.
17. The main in the counter told me that the train would be an hour late. I asked him at what time it would read Tinsukia.
Ans: The main in the counter said to me, "The train will be an hour late." I said to him, "At what time will it reach Tinsukia ?"
18. He said to me, ”I won't be able to complete the work today. Can I come tomorrow and complete it ?"
Ans: He told me that he would not be able to complete the work that day. He again asked if he could come the next day and complete it.
19. The teacher told me that I needed to improve my grammar. I replied that I would try hard.
