The story, 'A letter to God" is about a hardworking, poor farmer who has deep faith in God. The farmer, named Lencho expecting for a rain shower to nourish his field of corn.


He is confident that his harvest is going to yield him good harvest just like it does every year. 


To his excitement, rainfall did happen as he predicted but sooner, but it turned into a hailstorm destroying his entire crop field and he suffered a great loss.


The damage brings a threat to the family's survival as their entire livelihood was dependent on the year's produce. Although disheartened, the family had complete belief in God. 


Lencho, despite having worked day and night at the field like an ox, knew how to write and thus, decided to write a letter to God explaining his problem and asking for financial help. He went to town to post his letter addressed "To God". He dropped the letter in the mail. 


The letter on being noticed by the postmaster, at first it amused him, but then he decided to do something for the farmer so as to keep his faith in God.


He gave a part from his salary and collects money from his colleagues and friends who willingly contributed for an act of charity.


But he could only collect seventy pesos which he put in an envelope and signs as God to make it seem like a reply from the God. 


When Lencho found the letter with money in it, he is not at all surprised, but instead, he gets angry on finding that the amount is less than what he had requested.


Then he again writes a letter to God conveying his disappointment and distrust in the employees of the post office who he thought had stolen the remaining part of the money.

Lencho was a farmer, he lived on the top of a low hill. His house was the only house in the entire valley. His field was full of ripe corn and it was easily visible from the height where his house was situated.


He was eagerly waiting for rain so that he could have some good harvest. That day morning Lencho did nothing but he was looking towards the sky in the northeast. And predicted about rain.


As Lencho hoped, the rain started when they were having food. The rain gave Lencho a ray of hope. He was very happy and compared the raindrops with silver coins with joy.


But suddenly his happy moment turned into despair as the rain changed into hailstones and totally destroyed his corn fields


Lencho was very much worried about his family as he had lost all his crops. He had deep faith in God. He found his last hope in God.


He decided to write a letter to God asking for send a hundred pesos inorder to sow his fields again and could support his family. He also mentioned that if God didn't help him, he and his family would die of hunger.


Lencho was very hardworking, At day break he went to town and drop the letter in the mail. The post master was a fat and amiable person. He read the letter, the postmaster laughed at first but soon he became serious and surprised to find Lencho's faith in God.


So he decided to help Lencho with the help of his employees and some close friends because he didn't want to shaken away Lencho's faith in God. The postmaster collected seventy pesos and put the money in an envelope and sign the letter God.


Lencho became very angry when he found only seventy pesos. He thought God could not have made mistake. He assumed post office employees had stolen the remaining money so he again wrote a letter to God and asked the remaining amount but requested not to send the money through the mail and called the post office employees bunch of crooks.
