Ans: A very good morning to our honourable Principal sir, teachers and my friends. I am happy to stand here to give a speech today. The topic that I am going to talk about is 'say no to plastic bags'. Plastic bags may look quite useful, but with time it will only harm our environment and make bad things happen to us. Plastic bags are hazardous and pollute land, water, and air. Only one out of the 20 plastic bags disposed of getting recycled. Plastic bags are non-biodegradable, and hence pollute the soil they are dumped at. Dumping of plastic bags pose a significant threat to the environment and deplete our natural resources. Plastic bags are lighter than water and thus float on the water’s surface, preventing the mixing of air with water. Plastics are lethal to aquatic organisms and cause unnatural deaths among marine lifeforms. Around one Lakh, animals die due to poisoning after the consumption of plastic bags. The process of burning plastic bags releases poisonous gases that can kill or poison living things and create air pollution. The most significant use of plastic bags is for packaging, carrying goods, etc. India has taken the initiative to ban the use of Plastics less than 50 microns.Important Questions for AHSEC 2023
