Introduction: Lachit Borphukan, the most powerful hero of Assam, the legendary Ahom army general is known for his military intelligence in the Battle of Saraighat. The fearless hero was born on 24 November 1622 in Charaideo toan Ahom family. His father's name is Momai Tamuli Borbarua (Mo-sai Cheng Kaluk) and mother's name is Kunti Moran (Nageswari Aideu).
Life And Education: Lachit Borphukan was very fearless, honest and outspoken from childhood. His father, Momai Tamuli Borbarua, the first Borbarua of the Ahom kingdom and the founder of the Pike system appointed suitable teachers to educate Lachit Borphukan. Lachit Borphukan acquired knowledge of Ahom scriptures, Hindu religious ethics, economics, etc. He also acquired knowledge of the history and governance of the country.
Bravery And Heroism: Lachit Barphukan was a mighty general during the reign of Swargadeo Jaidhwaj Singh in 1662 AD. In 1667, Lachit showed his military intelligence and heroism in the Ahom-Mughal War and drove the Mughal army across the Manah River. He built a fort near Amingaon in North Guwahati to resist the enemy troops. Veer Lachit Borphukan's name shines in the history of Assam as a result of his feats in the Battle of Saraighat.
Death: Lachit Barphukan, who won the Battle of Saraighat by showing his bravery and courage, died a few days after the Battle of Saraighat. He died on 25 April in 1672 and was buried at Holongapar in Jorhat.
