The cow is a four footed domestic animal. She gives us milk, gives birth to a calf in a year. She has four teats in he udder. The cow mainly lives on grass and straw. The male cow is called bullock. The bullock ploughs fields and draws carts.

The cow has two eyes, two ears and a nose. Her body is covered with soft fur. It has a long tail with a tuft of hair, she drives away flies, gnats and mosquitos with her tail. She has two horns on her head, some cows have no horns.

Cows are of different colours such as red, black, white and brown and some are spotted.

The cow has no tooth in the upper jaw. The cow is a useful animal. The cow gives us milk and her milk is good for our health. Ghee, butter, cream, curd are made from milk and cowdung is a good manure.

Shoes, bags and many other things are made from the skin of cow. Buttons, combs etc are made from its horn. The Hindus worship the cow as a sacred animal. The cow can be  found all over the world. The cow is a very gentle animal. We should take care of the cows.
