Birbal's Intelligence

One day Emperor Akbar was sitting in his private chamber with all his nine gems around him. These nine gems were the people known for their intelligence, sharpness of mind and expertise. Inorder to prove their Intelligence, Emperor Akbar got up and with a piece of chalk drew a line on the floor. Then he dared the nine gems to make his line shorter without erasing any part of it. This followed a long silence. Akbar’s challenging glance fell from one minister to another but evoked no response. At last, the Emperor looked at Birbal. Birbal got up from his seat quietly, picked the piece of chalk and drew a long line beside the given line. The line drawn by the emperor had become shorter indeed. The problem had been solved. Emperor Akbar became very happy and appreciated Birbal for his Intelligence.
