A cover is a space for a person with cutlery, crockery, glass ware and napkin for dinning.

Glassware means drinking glasses and other ornaments made of glass

What are waiters kit

Notepad: A waiter should carry a Notepad to write down the order from the guest.

Waiters Cloths: There are five main purposes for that a waiter should keep waiters cloths with.
  1. Carrying hot plates.   
  2. Final polishing of plates.    
  3. Wiping small pills.   
  4. Brushing crumbs on to a service plates.    
  5. Wiping the underside of the plates before placing them on the table.

Pen (Click type Ball pen) : A waiter carries a pen to write down the orders. There is a benefit of using click type pen as it reduces the time to open it than other cap type of pens.

Bottle opener: To open the bottles.

Matchbox / Lighter : To lit the guest's cigarette if needed.

Wine Opener : To open bottle, cork of the wines to cut foil of the wine bottle. Wine opener is also known as the Waiter's friend and it was patended in 1982 by Karl Wienke by German inventor.

Duties of a waiter

• Reports to Senior Captain ( inorder to receive necessary instruction like shift and changes in the menu )

• Attends briefing taken by Senior Captain

• Sets the assigned tables and ensures that the sideboard and back area is well stocked with linen, silverware, glassware, chinaware etc .

• Welcome the guests / Greets the guests and assist them in sitting. Presenting the menu card.

• Order taking from guests and recording.
(Recommends dishes from the menu if any suggestion asked)

• Forward the orders to the kitchen.

• Serve the food to guests.

• Observes the guests inorder to anticipate any additional requests.

• Clear the table after the meal is over.

• Present the bill.

# Sometimes a waiter is also required to perform other duties like singing birthday songs to the customers.

Note : Maintain healthy relations with the guests and stuff. Ensure that guests enjoy their meal and leave the place fully satisfied by the service provided to them.
