ITI means industrial training institute. There are two major types of ITI in India – Government ITI and Private ITI.


Total Number of ITI institute in India

According to the ministry, there are 14312 Industrial Training Institutes in the country. Out of these, 2204 are government and 12108 are private ITIs.


A government ITI is owned and operated by the state government. On the other hand, a private ITI is owned and run by an educational trust or organization.


An ITI offers a variety of industrial training programmes. Depending on the contents of the course, these programs can be classified into two types – Technical and Non Technical programmes.


The main aim of ITI is to provide Technical or Non technical skills among its students. For this purpose, ITI offers various courses.


Total Number of ITI trades available in India

According to the needs and demands of various industries,
ITI courses are divided into 126 Trade, out of which 73 are Technical or Engineering trades, 48 are Non-Technical trades and 5 Trades are only for the visually impaired.


These courses are related to a particular 'Trade'. That Trade determines the kind of training a student will take. It also determines the kind of skill set that a student has to achieve.


For example, if a student chooses a 'wireman' trade, he/she will be trained in fields such as electricity, electrical equipment, relevant equipment, trade-specific skills etc.


While choosing an ITI trade, you should be a tittle careful, because  a trade in demand at present time that may not be in such demand in future.


If one wants to acquire skills that will help him get a job in the future he has to choose a good Trade.


The initial salary can range between Rs 8k upto 15k per month after completing the trade. Starting salary depends on the type of work (government, private or self-employed). It also depends on location.

1. WELDER
This Trade is related to welding and its related activities. The training programme covers welding equipment, practices, techniques, security measures etc.

After completing this training programme, one can become a welder and work on an industrial firm that includes welding work.

Such as oil and gas refineries, steel factory, construction or manufacturing sectors are the areas of employment.


2. WIREMAN
This Trade is related to wireman training and its related activities. The training programme covers subjects such as electricity, relevant equipment such as testing and repair, safety measures, practical training, electrical magnetism etc.

After completing this course, government can work for employers such as electricity board, railways, PSU etc., electrical manufacturing companies etc. One can even self-employ after following this business.


3. ELECTRICIAN
The name Electrician suggests that this Trade deals with aspects such as electricity, electrical equipment, safety methods and practical knowledge. It is one of the most popular ITI Trade in India.

After completing this course, relevant government employers can work for individual employers or become self-employed. Government institutions such as PSU, Indian Railways, State Electricity board etc.  are the areas of employment.


4. FITTER
This Trade deals with the issue of assembling a metal part of a machine, operating or repairing a machine, operating various equipment, installing or assembling a machine or mechanical system.

In short, a fitter is capable of installing, fitting, repairing, servicing and fabricating machines or mechanical systems. He knows very well about aspects like tools, components, design analysis etc.

After completing this course, one can work in a government or private institution. Such as refineries or metal factories etc.


5. MECHANIC (MOTOR VEHICLE)
In simple terms, a motor vehicle mechanic is capable of repairing, testing and assembling a motor vehicle. Nowadays, a motor vehicle mechanic specializes in a particular type of vehicle such as a two wheeler, four wheeler, heavy vehicle etc.

The Mechanic Motor Vehicle Course covers issues such as engine, parts and components, assembling of parts, motor vehicle work etc.


6. MECHANIC (REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONER)
The trade is also known as RAC mechanic. This Trade is related to refrigeration and air conditioning repairs.

After completing this course, ac or refrigeration equipment is able to be repaired, assembled and installed.

This Trade deals with issues such as consumer AC and refrigeration systems, industrial RAC systems, compressors, wiring, installation techniques, repair work etc.


7. MECHANIC ELECTRONICS
This Trade is related to the integration, testing and repair of electronic devices. This Trade deals with the subjects of common electronic devices, their components, IC, repair techniques and methods.

After completing this course, you can work for government or private institutions. Beyond that, may be self-employed.


8. PLUMBER
In simple terms, a plumber is associated with the installation, testing and maintenance of the plumbing system. A plumbing system is used to carry water in our homes, offices, schools, industries etc. Plumbing systems are also used to transport not only water but also oil, gas and other liquids.

ITI plumbing trade deals with issues such as setting up, maintenance, repairing and testing of the plumbing system by trade.


9. MACHINIST GRINDER
This Trade deals with issues like smoothing, grounding, polishing and finishing metal objects.

In simple terms, the grinder deals with the procedures to finish workpieces.

After completing this course, you will be able to use CNC or other machine equipment to do the grounding work.


10. TOOL AND DIE MAKER
This Trade deals with issues such as CNC, machine equipment, turning, milling, shaping, drilling and grounding machine parts, design analysis etc.

Tool and Die Macer trade is quite popular in India. Tools and die makers use mechanical devices or computer-controlled devices to create metal parts, equipment and equipment.

I would say Stenography is the best ITI trade for government jobs and media. Every year SSC declares vacancies for stenographers for students who have passed Class X. So stenography is one of the best ITI Trade after class 10 for government jobs.
