Most respectfully through the regular column of your esteemed daily, I would like to express my feeling and draw attention of the responsible citizens about the increasing of crime against women in Assam.

Sir, reportedly there has been shocking growth of crimes against women in Assam. When we turn the pages of a newspaper, we come across many headlines reporting cases of sexual assault, molestation, sexual harassment, rapes, trafficking, ill treatment of women in houses, violence against women in remote areas etc. Dowry death has become very common nowadays in Assam. It seems that criminals are no longer afraid of the law. The law should be strong enough so that no body could ever imagine of doing such things. It is time the government undertakes drastic measures to put an end to crime against women. There must be the installation of CCTV cameras in the prone areas. Society must remember that if women are not safe then society will also be at stake. 

Therefore keeping the above in view, I would like to quote here that society must wake up now. When we talk about equality, we must also provide an unpolluted society for women. The police force must be active and there must be more numbers of women police in the police department.
