Summary of poem 'Trees' class 7 is about the various advantages of trees. Trees are our best friends, every person who looks at a tree appreciates it for a different reason. They are also friendly to children. Children are provided with space for swings. The wind blows through them. Children can hide behind and play hide and seek, swings, trees give us cool shade, fruits, food, timber and shelter. The grown ups can organise tea parties under them. Kites get caught in tree branches. Trees give us cool shade in summer. They keep us warm in winter by giving fuel.

कविता 'Trees' कक्षा 7 का सारांश पेड़ों के विभिन्न लाभों के बारे में है।  पेड़ हमारे सबसे अच्छे दोस्त हैं, पेड़ को देखने वाला हर व्यक्ति एक अलग कारण से इसकी सराहना करता है।  वे बच्चों के अनुकूल भी हैं।  बच्चों को झूलों के लिए जगह दी जाती है।  हवा उनके माध्यम से चलती है।  बच्चे पीछे छिप सकते हैं और लुका-छिपी खेल सकते हैं, झूले, पेड़ हमें ठंडी छाया, फल, भोजन, लकड़ी और आश्रय देते हैं।  बड़े उनके अधीन चाय पार्टियों का आयोजन कर सकते हैं।  पतंगे पेड़ की डालियों में फंस जाती हैं।  पेड़ हमें गर्मियों में ठंडी छाया देते हैं।  ये सर्दियों में हमें ईंधन देकर गर्म रखते हैं।

Working with the Poem

1. What are the games or human activities which use trees, or in which trees also ‘participate’ ?

Ans: The games or human activities which use trees are house making, playing hide and seek, swinging, cool shades in summer, fire camp parties in winter, fruits and many more.

2. (i) “Trees are to make no shade in winter.” What does this mean ? (Contrast this line with the line immediately before it.)

Ans: During summers, the trees provide cool shade. In winters, this shade is not required. So people stand under the open sun to enjoy its Warmth.

(ii) “Trees are for apples to grow on, or pears.” Do you agree that one purpose of a tree is to have fruit on it ? Or do you think this line is humorous ?

Ans: One purpose of the trees is to provide fruits like apples, pears, and so on. This line is not humorous. Humans do rely on trees for food.

3. With the help of your partner, try to rewrite some lines in the poem, or add new ones of your own as in the following examples. Trees are for birds to build nests in. Trees are for people to sit under. Now try to compose a similar poem about Water or air.
