At the same time, recruitments of cantering JCO (ASC) and religious teacher (JCO) are also taken out by the army at the rank of Naib Subedar. Youth of 21 to 27 years with a diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology with 10 + 2 can apply for Cantering JCO (ASC) posts.  


At the same time, graduates from the age of 27 years and 34 years are eligible to apply for the posts of Religious Teacher (JCO).


UPSC NDA: NDA exam is the medium to become an officer in the army after 12th, JNU degree and appointment is done after training

Enlisted as a lieutenant in the army

In the Indian Army, the rank of lieutenant is recruited for the ranks above the rank of Subedar Major. Army has given many entry options for recruitment on Lieutenant, these include NCC Special, SSC, IMA, 10 + 2 Technical, NDA, JAG, TGC, UES, TGC (Education).  


A candidate admitted to the rank of lieutenant from any entry option has the opportunity to rise to the rank of general in the army while being promoted during service.

NCC Special (Male & Female): Youth from 19 years to 25 years of NCC Certificate in A or B grade with minimum 50% marks from any recognized university are eligible to apply.


Short Service Commission (Technical - Male & Female): BE or B.Tech or B.Arc or B.Sc or MSc Computer Degree in Engineering, youth from 19 to 27 years can apply.


Short Service Commission (Non-Technical): Youth from 19 to 25 years who have passed Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute can apply.


Indian Military Academy (Non-Technical): Direct recruitment is also done for non-technical posts in IMA for which candidates from 19 to 24 years of graduation degree are eligible to apply.


10 + 2 Technical (TES): The Indian Army conducts technical recruitment scheme of 10 + 2 passed youth with minimum 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.  The age limit for this is 16.5 years to 19.5 years.


NDA Recruitment: An option for recruitment to the rank of lieutenant in the Indian Army is the National Defense Academy (NDA) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which is conducted twice a year by the Commission. To appear in this exam, candidates are required to have passed 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.


JAG (Male & Female): JAG (Male & Female) recruitment process is conducted for entry into the Legal Corps in the Indian Army for which LLB with minimum 55% marks passed and from Bar Council of India or Bar Council of various states registered can apply. The minimum age limit for this recruitment is 21 years and maximum 27 years.


TGC: Another recruitment process - Technical Graduate Course is organized by the Army for recruitment in the Technical Corps. The minimum qualification prescribed for this is BE or BTech or BEARC or MSc Computer in Engineering. Also, the age of the candidate should be between 19 to 27 years.


UES: Youth studying in the first years of the final year in engineering degree course are eligible to apply for UES recruitment in the army. Also, the age of a candidate for UES must be between 19 and 24 years old.


TGC (Education): The TGC (Education) process is conducted by the Army for recruitment to the senior rank in the Army's Education Corps. For this, youths from 23 years to 27 years who have passed MA or MSc degree in first or second class can apply.


CDS: Like NDA, Combined Defense Services (CDS) examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is also an option. To appear in this examination, candidates must be graduate. Also, the age of the candidate should be from 20 years to 24 years.
