A noun is a word used to name a person, animal, place, thing and abstract idea. Nouns are usually the first words which small children learn.
1. Yesterday my neighbour brought a car.
2. Portia White was an opera singer.
A noun is the name of anything which includes person, places, animals and things.
যি পদে কোনো নাম, বস্তু, জীৱ, জন্তু, আদি বুজায়

Types of noun with example
There are five different types of noun.Noun ক পাঁচ ভাগত ভাগ কৰা হৈছে
- Proper noun - নাম বাকচ
- Common noun - জাতি বাচক
- Collective noun - দল বা সমষ্টি বাচক
- Material noun - বস্তু বা দ্ৰব্য বাচক
- Abstract noun - গুণ বাচক
• Proper Noun
A proper noun indicates the name of particular person, place, thing, months, historical documents, institutions, organizations, religions etc.A proper noun is the opposite of a common noun. We always write a proper noun with a capital letter.
যি এ ব্যত্তি বস্তু ঠাই প্ৰাণী আদিৰ নাম বুজায় । এইবোৰ বাক্যৰ আদিতে হঁওক বা অন্যঠাইতে বহক capital lettert ত লিখা হয় ।
যেনে : Virat is a good player.
He lives in Delhi.
• Common Noun
A common noun is a noun referring to a person, place or thing in a general sense. The noun which indicates the name of each one of class of things. A common noun is the opposite of a proper noun.যি এ বিশেষ বস্তু বা প্ৰাণী আদিৰ নাম বুজোৱাৰ পৰিৱৰ্তে সৈই জাতীয় সকলো প্ৰানী বা বস্তুক বুজায় ।
যেনে : Man is mortel.
Dogs burk
Cow is a useful animal
ব্যৱহাৰিক দিশৰ পৰা Common noun ক দুটা ভাগত ভাগ কৰা হৈছে ।
(i) Countable Noun আৰু (ii) Uncountable Noun
• Countable Noun
A countable noun is a noun with both a singular and a plural form, and it names anything or anyone that we can count.
A countable noun can be made plural and attach it to a plural verb in a sentence.
যিবিলাক Noun ক গণনা কৰিব পাৰি সেইবিলাকক countable noun বোলে।
1. We painted the table blue.
2. Rajiv found one gold ring in the garden.
Countable noun ৰ আগত article [a/an/the] ব্যৱহাৰ কৰিব পাৰি । এটাতকৈ বেছি বুজাবলৈ হলে noun ৰ পাছত s, es, ies, ves, en যোগ কৰা হয় ।

• Uncountable Noun
An uncountable noun or non-countable noun is a noun which does not have a plural form, and which refers to something that you could not usually count.An uncountable noun always takes a singular verb in a sentence. Uncountable nouns are similar to collective nouns, and rare the opposite of countable nouns.
যিবিলাক noun ক গণনা কৰিব নোৱাৰি সেইবিলাকক uncountable noun বোলে। Uncountable noun ৰ কোনো বহুবচন ৰূপ (Plural form) নাথাকে আৰু ইয়াৰ আগত article ৰ ব্যৱহাৰ নহয়।
Uncountable noun ৰ আগত little, a little, the little, some, any, much আদি ব্যৱহাৰ হয়।
যেনে - There is little milk in the glass.
He has some money.
Oxygen is essential to human life.
• Collective Noun
A collective noun is a noun naming a group of things, animals, or persons. The collective noun indicates the group of person or things of same kind.You need to be able to recognize collective nouns in order to maintain subject verb agreement. A collective noun is similar to a uncountable noun and is roughly the opposite of a countable noun.
যি এ একে জাতীয় বস্তু বা প্ৰাণীৰ সমষ্টি বুজায় ।
যেনে : The Army is Marching.
Teacher teaches his students.
The steering committee meets every Sunday morning.
• Material Noun
The material noun indicates the name of substance of matter
যি এ কোনো বস্তু, দ্ৰব্য বাচক বা ধাতুক বুজায়
যেনে : Gold is precious.
Water has neither colour nor taste.
This knife is made of iron
• Abstract Noun
An abstract noun is a noun which names anything which you can not perceive through your physical senses. The noun indicates the name of a quality, state of action of a feeling.যি এ ব্যত্তি বা বস্তু আদিৰ গুণ, অৱস্থা আদি বুজায় ।
যেনে : Honesty is the best policy.
Truth is beauty.
Wishdom is better than strength.
We all like freedom.
Abstract nounবোৰ সচাৰচৰ Noun, Verb আৰু Adjective ৰ পৰা উদ্ভৱ হয় । প্ৰয়োজন অনুসৰি [ hood, cy, ism, ship, ment, ice, ness, dom, ter, ly, th ] আদি যোগ দিব লাগে ।
যেনে : Boy - boy + hood = Boyhood.
Bitter - bitter+ ness = Bitterness.
Govern - govern + ment = Government.
