'Dust of Snow’ is a beautiful short poem composed by Robert Frost. This poem tells that even a simple moment has a large significance in one's life. The poet has mentioned crow and hemlock tree in this poem. Crow signifies his depressive and sorrowful mood and hemlock tree is a poisonous tree. Both these signify that the poet was not in a good mood and so he describes the dark, depressive and bitter side of nature to present his similar mood. But when the crow shakes some dust of snow on him then his mood changed from sadness to happiness and saved his rest of the day from being wasted away.

'डस्ट ऑफ स्नो' रॉबर्ट फ्रॉस्ट द्वारा रचित एक सुंदर लघु कविता है।  यह कविता बताती है कि किसी के जीवन में एक साधारण पल का भी बड़ा महत्व है।  कवि ने इस कविता में कौवा और हेमलॉक वृक्ष का उल्लेख किया है।  कौवा अपने अवसादग्रस्तता और दुखद मनोदशा को दर्शाता है और हेमलॉक पेड़ एक जहरीला पेड़ है।  ये दोनों संकेत देते हैं कि कवि अच्छे मूड में नहीं था और इसलिए वह अपने समान मूड को पेश करने के लिए प्रकृति के अंधेरे, अवसादग्रस्त और कड़वे पक्ष का वर्णन करता है।  लेकिन जब कौवा ने उस पर बर्फ की कुछ धूल छोड़ी तो उसका मूड उदासी से खुशी में बदल गया और अपने बाकी दिन को बर्बाद होने से बचा लिया।

Explanation : Poet Robert Frost, recounts a small incident that changes his mood. It seems very simple but it has a great significance. The poet was very very depressed and hopeless. He was in a state of sorrow and he was lost in his thoughts. He was standing under the hemlock tree, then suddenly a crow that was sitting over the tree, shook the tree and the fine particles of snow from the tree fell on the poet.

Stanza 2 :
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some parr
Of a day I had rued. 

Explanation : When the soft and cold snow fell on the poet, It changed his state of mind from sadness to happiness. He started feeling peaceful and refreshed. This simple incident helped him enjoy the rest of the day. He thus became very happy as it saved his rest of the day from being wasted.

Ans: A hemlock tree is a poisonous tree with small white flowers. The poet Robert Frost, didn't choose to use a maple, oak or a pine tree, he chose the hemlock tree and left all the beautiful trees to present his mood and feelings.

(iii) What do the ‘crow’ and ‘hemlock’ represent — joy or sorrow? What does  the dust of snow that the crow shakes off a hemlock tree stand for?
Ans: The crow and hemlock tree represent sorrow and depression felt by the poet in this materialistic world. The dust of snow is the symbol of natural joy and energy.
