Voice change English Grammar : Dear students here we shall discuss about Voice change in English Grammar in details.


What is voice ? 
Voice is the form of the verb which shows whether the subject acts or is acted upon.

Active voice: When the subject of the sentence is the doer.
Passive voice: When the subject of the sentence is acted upon.


Voice Change rules
Voice Change ( বাচ্য )
(i) Active voice à¦•à§°্তা বাচ্য     (ii) Passive voice à¦•à§°্ম বাচ্য
              Active : Children like sweets
              Passive: Sweets are liked by children

নিয়ম:

১)Active voice ৰ Object টো Passive voice ত Subject হিচাবে বহে ।
2)Active voice ৰ Main verb ৰ Tense ৰূ  à¦…নূসৰি Passive ত "BE" verb ৰ ৰূপ ব্যৱহাৰ হয় ।
                   Simple present            am/is /are
                   Simple past                 was/ were
                Continuous(verb+ ing)       being
               Perfect (have/has,had)        been
                Future, Auxiliary                   be
3)Active voice ৰ Main verb টোৰ Passive voice ত Past perticiple (v3)ৰূপ ব্যৱহাৰ হয় ।
4) Active voice ৰ Subject টো Passive  voice ত "By" preposition  à§° object হিচাবে বহে ।
5)Active voice ৰ Pronoun বোৰ Passive à¦¤ সলনি হয় ।

I=ME  HE =HIM  SHE =HER   WE = US  THEY = THEM   YOU = YOU

Voice change formula

1] Simple Present Tense

                               a]  A : S + V ( present ) + O
                                    P: O + am/is/ are + V ( v3 ) + by + S

                               b]  A : Do / does + S + V + O ?
                                    P : Am / is / are + O + V (v3) + by + S ?

1. A: Birds build nests .
     P: Nests are built by birds .

2. A: Old people like silence .
     P: Silence is liked by old people .

3. A : Decent people dislike bad manners.
    P: Bad manners are disliked by decent people.

4. A: Carelessness causes accidents.
    P: Accidents are caused by carelessness.

5. A: Do you want a pen ?
    P: Is a pen wanted by you ?

2] Present continuous

                        A : S + am / is / are + V + ing + O
                        P: O + am / is / are + being + V (v3) + by + S

1. A: We are playing football .
   P: Football is being played by us .

2. A: The doctor is examining a patient.
    P: A patient is being examined by the doctor .

3. A: Our teacher is correcting our copies.
    P: Our copies are being corrected by our teacher .

4. A: The students are decorating the stage .
    P: The stage is being decorated by the students .

5. A: The coach is training the players.
    P: The players are being trained by the coach.

6. A: Are they meeting him at the airport ?
    P: Is he being met at the airport by them ?

3. Present Perfect

                     A: S + have / has + V (v3) + O
                     P: O + have / has + been + V (v3) + by + S

 1. A: I have seen the Tajmahal.
    P: The Tajmahal has been seen by me.

2. A: The students have decorated the stage.
    P: The stage has been decorated by the students .

3. A: They have bought the statue from Guwahati .
    P: The statue has been bought from Guwahati by them .

4. A: Have you completed the work ?
    P: Has the work been completed by you ?

5. A: I have posted the letters.
    P: The letters have been posted by me.

4. Simple Past tense

   
                      a) A: S + V ( past ) + O
                          P: O + was / were  + V ( v3 ) + by + S
                      b ) A: Did + S + V + O ?
                           P: Was / were + O + V ( v3) + by + S ?

1. A: Columbus discovered Amerika.
   P: America was discovered by Columbus.

2. A: The workers repaired the bridge.
    P: The bridge was repaired by the workers .

3. A: The students decorated the stage.
    P: The stage was decorated by the students.

4. A: Storm damaged the houses.
    P: The houses were damaged by storm.

5. A: Did the hunter kill a tiger ?
    P: Was a tiger killed by the hunter ?

5. Past Continuous

                       
                         A: S + was / were / V + ing + O
                         P: O + was / were + being + V ( v3) + by + S


      
1. A: Our principal was presiding over the meeting.
   P: The meeting was beinh presided over by our principal.

2. A: The boy was throwing stones at the beggar.
    P: Stones were being thrown at the beggar by the boy.

3. A: He was looking at the picture .
    P: The picture was being looked at by him.

4. A: They were laughing at me.
    P: I was being laughed at by him.

5. A: The mason was building a wall.
   P : A wall was being built by the mason.

6. Past Perfect tense

 
                         A: S + had + V (v3) + O
                         P: O + Had + been + V (v3) + by + S


1. A: I had finished the work.
   P: The work had been finished by me.

2. A: She had sold the car.
     P: The car had been sold by her.

3. A: He had won a jackpot.
    P: A jackpot had been won by him.

7. Simple Future

 
                    A: S + shall / will + V + O
                    P: O + shall / will + be + V ( v3) + by + S


1. A: I shall do the work.
    P: The work will be done by me.

2. A: He will call her.
    P: She will be called by her.

3. A: The policeman will catch the thief.
     P: The thief will be caught by the policeman.

8. Future Perfect tense.


   A: S + shall / will + have + V ( v3) + O + by + time phrase
   P: O + shall / will + have + been + V(v3) + by + S + by + time phrase.


1. A: I shall have done the work by this evening.
   P: The work will have done by me by this evening.

2. A: He will have read the book by 4 p.m.
     P: The book will have been read by him by 4 p.m.

9. Sentences with CAN / MAY / MUST / MIGHT.


             A :S+ can / may / must / might + V + O
             P: O+ can / may / must / might + be + V(v3) + by + S

1. A: I can do the work.
   P: The work can be done by me.

2. A: We must win the game.
    P: The game must be won by us.

3. A: Might I use your phone ?
   P: Might your phone be used by me ?

10. Factive object.


       A:  S + V + O + Fact
       P: O + be verb + V(v3) + fact + by + S


1. A: We call him Mahatma.
   P: He is called Mahatma by us.

2. A: The party elected him president .
    P: He was elected president by the party.

3. A: The committee appointed him principal of this college.
    P: He was appointed principal of this college by the committee

11. Double object

     
         A: S + V + Indirect object + direct object
         P: i) Indirect object + be verb + V(v3) + direct object + by +S
             ii) Direct object + be verb + V(v3) + Indirect object + by + S

1. A: He Teaches us English.
  P: i) English is taught us by him.
       ii) We are taught English by him.

2. A: She gave me a pen .
     P: i) A pen was given me by him.
         ii) I was given a pen by him.

3. A: They bought the baby a doll.
    P: i) A doll was boughy the baby by them.
        ii) The baby was bought a doll by them.
