Apsc Exam Pattern and New Syllabus 2022: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) was established on 1st April 1937. APSC conducts competitive examination inorder to recruit 'Group A' officers and 'Group B' officers for administrative departments of Assam like deputy collector, DSP or on other various posts in the revenue and other services. What is syllabus for APSC 2022 ? ( APSC Exam Syllabus)

To prepare for APSC/UPSC examination the aspirant needs to follow a smart strategy followed by the updated study materials. Current Affairs play a huge role while preparing for such an examination.


It is important to know the APSC syllabus first before starting preparation for any exam. The paper-wise syllabi for the APSC Prelims and APSC Mains examinations are provided here.



What should I study for APSC prelims ?

The Prelims will be the first stage of the exam consists of two papers of objective types questions. Each paper will carry 200 marks and time duration is 2 hours


Paper-I (General Studies)

Total Marks - 200 | Duration - 2 Hours | Type - Objective

30%-35% questions will compulsorily be related to Assam


Paper-II (General Studies)

Total Marks - 200 | Duration - 2 Hours | Type - Objective

Qualifying nature, shall have minimum qualifying marks of 33%



APSC Prelims Syllabus 2022

PAPER-I

National & International, History of India, Indian National Movement, Physical, Social & Economical Geography of Indian, World Economic & Social Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, General Science.


PAPER-II

English Comprehension, Interpersonal Skills & Communication Skills, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability, Decision Making, Problem Solving, General Mental Ability, Basic Numeracy, Data Interpretation (CLASS X)



What should I study for APSC Mains ?

The candidates who have qualified this first phase of examination will be shortlisted and called out for the second phase of exam that is APSC Mains. 


The APSC Mains Exam consists of a total of 8+2 papers, out of which 2 are of qualifying nature. Each paper has 250 marks and time is given for three hours. The remaining Language paper two Paper A and Paper B have 300 marks each and three hours are also given here


The first paper of the APSC Mains exam consists of essay writing.


Paper-1 (Essay)

This section is descriptive in nature in which the candidate has to write an essay in the language he/she has chosen while filling the form.


The candidate is required to write an essay on a specific topic in the language of the candidate’s choice.

GS PAPER-II

Paper-A (Qualifying Nature)

This section will ask questions on language which the candidate has selected from Assamese/Bengali/Bodo and the questions will carry 300 marks. Questions will be asked based on:


  • Comprehension of given passages.
  • Precis Writing
  • Usage and Vocabulary.
  • Short Essay
  • Translation i.e. English to the Indian language and vice versa.


Note: Any one of languages from Assamese, Bengali and Bodo. Candidates from Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts who had not studied any of these languages in school shall be exempted from appearing for qualifying language papers.


Paper-B

The aim of the paper is to test the candidates' ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly, in English and will carry 300 marks.


  • Comprehension of given passages.
  • Precis Writing
  • Usage and Vocabulary.
  • Short Essay.



APSC Personal Interview

After qualifying the Prelims and Mains Exam, candidates will be called for the Personality test for the final selection. The final APSC cut off list will be made on the basis of performance Mains Exam and Personality Test. The personal interview round that consists of a total of 275 marks.



APSC Exam Selection Process

The language papers in the mains exam are of qualifying nature and the candidates have to score minimum qualifying marks in those papers to appear for the personal interview.


The papers of the candidates qualifying in the language papers will be checked and a merit list will be made on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the mains written exam.


Candidates clearing the mains examination will be shortlisted for the personal interview round that consists of a total of 275 marks.


The final merit list and selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of their total marks in the mains written exam (Except language papers) and their performance in the personal interview round.
