This is Jody's Fawn class 8 Summary in English

This is Jody's Fawn is about human's feeling towards the wild animals. The lesson “This is Jody’s Fawn” begins with Jody being unable to keep the fawn out of his mind. Jody’s father is bitten by a rattlesnake. Jody killed a doe (she deer) to use it’s heart and liver to draw out the poison out of his father. Jody wonders what will happen to the little fawn left without its mother.

Jody could not forget the incident, he wanted to bring it home and raise it. His father, Penny lay in bed. Jody enquired after his health. Penny said he had escaped death narrowly. He felt proud of his son for his help. He owed his life to the she deer or the doe whom he had killed to press out the snake poison in his body.

Penny thought it would be ungrateful of them to leave the fawn to starve and thus, he agreed. Penny allowed Jody to bring the little animal and save it. Doc Wilson also supported Jody. Jody convinces his mother about the same, who at first is reluctant but on hearing the views of Mill-wheel and Doc Wilson, agrees to let Jody bring it home. She was okay with it if Jody would give it his share of milk as they had nothing else to feed the fawn.

Jody decided to go to the forest with Mill-wheel in search of the fawn. He hoped to be back home for dinner. Mill-wheel gave Jody a ride on his horse and suddenly Jody realised he did not want company. He did not want anyone to see his disappointment if he was unable to find the fawn and on the other hand, he did not want to share his loving moment on finding it either. Thus, he sent Mill-wheel away.

The bushes there were thick so he proposed to go on foot. The twigs under his feet creaked and broke the silence. Suddenly he saw a large vulture like bird flying into the air. Soon he found that many birds were feeding on the dead body of the doe. He threw his stick at them to keep them away. The incident had occurred only 24 hours ago. He went round but did not find the fawn. Even the footprints on the grass had been washed away in the rain.

Just then he was startled to see the fawn lifting its face. It was shaking. Jody walked upto it and put his arms around its body. Its skin was soft and clean. It did not kick, nor bleat. He saved its face from the thorny plants.

On the way home, he carried it for some time and let it follow him for a while. They finally reached home and Jody wanted to show his father that the fawn followed him but the fawn refused to climb the stairs. He carried it up the steps and his father could see Jody’s happiness through his bright eyes. Jody then took it to the kitchen to feed it his share of milk. He fed it the milk patiently till the gourd was left empty.

This is Jody's Fawn class 8 Summary in Hindi

This is Jody's Fawn
